The Executive Decision Programme

From Recommendation to Action

A strong recommendation can stall when priorities compete, support is conditional or agreement leaves the next step unclear. Practise the judgement, influence and negotiation needed to move a consequential decision through those moments.

You have made the case. The meeting ends with, “That sounds sensible.” Two weeks later, the work has not moved.

If you lead a function, a transformation or a major initiative, you may own the outcome while other people control the resources and priorities.

The Executive Decision Programme is for experienced managers, functional heads and initiative leaders who need to move consequential decisions across those boundaries.

I’m Theo Papadopoulos. I’ve held executive roles in customer experience, digital, strategy and transformation.

Here is one tool from the programme: the decision closure record. Capture the exact scope and version, the status, the authorised owner, the conditions still open, what can happen next, and who will verify each condition.

Imagine the authorised owner approves a four-week pilot for ten customers, with enrolment held until Finance releases funding and Operations confirm staffing.

“Pilot approved” loses the conditions. A useful record keeps the scope, the two outstanding confirmations and the restriction on starting visible. And it names who will verify each condition, and when.

Across six modules, you will practise choosing between credible alternatives, testing assumptions, understanding resistance, negotiating commitments and leading a contested conversation.

You make a recommendation before the case changes. Then you revise it and compare your reasoning with the debrief.

Your workbook includes filled examples, exercises and eleven reusable tools. Work on a real initiative, or use the fictional cases. The programme is self-guided, at your own pace.

You build a decision pack you can use: a recommendation, its trade-offs, the commitments it needs and a clear next step.

Explore the programme below, and bring one decision you need to move forward.

Work on the decision behind the presentation

You may have the evidence and a clear recommendation. You still need to establish which choice deserves attention, whose commitment matters, what can realistically be agreed and what the organisation is authorised to do next.

The programme follows that whole sequence. You will work through competing options, incomplete evidence, resource constraints and disagreement. When the facts change, you will revisit the decision and explain what needs to change with it.

What you will practise

  1. 01

Compare options and make the trade-offs visible before asking for support.

  2. 02

Test the assumptions that could reverse your recommendation.

  3. 03

Understand resistance, verify decision rights and identify the commitments that matter.

  4. 04

Negotiate compatible agreements across scope, resources and timing.

  5. 05

Respond to challenge without overstating the evidence or promising what you cannot deliver.

  6. 06

Record a decision clearly, check its conditions and revisit it when those conditions fail.

Who this is for

Experienced managers, functional leaders and programme leads whose work depends on decisions across teams, priorities and budgets.

It is particularly relevant when you bring recommendations to senior colleagues, need support beyond your own authority or carry responsibility for turning an agreement into workable action.

Six modules. One complete decision journey.

  1. 01

    Strategic choice

Choose what the business should back. Compare options, test assumptions and decide what needs senior attention now.

Your working output: a clear choice, its trade-offs and the assumptions that matter.

  2. 02

    Power and priorities

Find who can make the decision executable. Understand resistance without inventing motives and build a route through competing priorities.

Your working output: a verified route to the decision and the commitments it depends on.

  3. 03

    Credible judgement

Take a position with incomplete evidence. Make the strongest case against your recommendation and correct an uncomfortable claim.

Your working output: a recommendation that states its evidence, uncertainty and counterargument.

  4. 04

    Negotiated support

Involve people while the choice can still change. Negotiate packages across scope, resources and timing, then test whether the commitments can coexist.

Your working output: alternative packages with compatible conditions.

  5. 05

    Lead the contested conversation

Lead disagreement between senior decision makers. Respond when the facts, question or available time change, and close with a decision the organisation can act on.

Your working output: a clear decision record with ownership, conditions and next steps.

  6. 06

Turn a decision into responsible action

Verify that an approved plan can begin. Reopen the decision when a material condition fails and learn from the outcome before choosing the next commitment.

Your working output: a readiness check, a response to material change and a review of the decision.

Make your decision before you see the debrief

Each module includes a case challenge and a separate debrief. Record your reasoning, examine what the new information changes, then compare your response and improve one weak part.

The final capstone brings the whole sequence together in a new fictional business case. You will work through resource limits, a challenged claim and changing commitments, then assemble a decision record that preserves what was agreed and what remains unresolved.

A workbook for the work itself

The 239-page fillable workbook includes exercises for all 18 lessons, six module cases, the final capstone and space to record your reasoning before each debrief. A separate toolkit gives you 11 reusable tools.

Use one current initiative throughout, or work entirely with the supplied fictional cases. The lessons provide worked examples; the exercises ask you to make and explain your own decisions.

Questions before you begin

How is this different from Build Your Promotion Case?

Build Your Promotion Case focuses on your next role and the evidence for that step. This programme focuses on consequential business decisions: the alternatives, evidence, competing interests and commitments needed to take responsible action.

How is it different from Your First Management Role?

Your First Management Role supports the transition into managing others. The Executive Decision Programme develops judgement and influence across senior stakeholders, functions and organisational constraints.

How much time should I allow?

The videos total approximately 4 hours 25 minutes. Allow roughly 25–45 minutes of workbook practice per core lesson, in addition to the video, and 60–90 minutes for the final capstone. These are planning estimates. Work at a pace that lets you complete and revisit your decisions.

Do I need to share confidential work?

No. You can complete the programme using the supplied fictional cases. If you choose a current initiative, keep confidential information private and check your organisation's facts and decision rights before applying a tool.

Does the programme include coaching or an assessed qualification?

This is a self-guided programme. Personal review, live coaching and a certified assessment are not included. The case debriefs and workbook help you examine and revise your own work.

What does the €499 option include?

All three programmes: The Executive Decision Programme, Build Your Promotion Case and Your First Management Role. It adds €100 to the €399 Executive Decision Programme price. You pay €499 in total, including applicable tax, with lifetime access. You can also buy The Executive Decision Programme on its own for €399.

Is there a subscription?

No. Both options are one-time payments with lifetime access.

Bring a decision that matters to your work.

Work through the choice, the support it needs and the action it makes possible.
