Yesterday, you were part of the team. Today, you manage it. You know the people and the work.

I'm Theo, and I'm glad you're here.

I've held different senior roles in banking, such as Chief Digital Officer, Chief Customer Experience Officer, and Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. I've sat in the leadership seat, with responsibility for people, decisions and results.

My approach combines that leadership experience with coaching certification through Erickson International.

The habit that earned you the promotion can make that transition difficult. Being the person who always has the answer feels familiar. Helping someone else work out the answer takes patience, especially when doing it yourself seems faster.

You'll leave with a one-page agreement to discuss with your manager: the results that matter, the decisions you can make, and the support you need.

You can remain warm and familiar while being clear about the work.

Today, we'll build a short agenda around one current issue and finish with a practical action.

Make the result, authority, support and check-in clear, then let the person own the work within those boundaries.

Useful feedback gives someone a specific piece of information about their work, explains why it matters and leaves room for their account.

Someone agreed to do something, and it hasn't happened. How you handle that first conversation shapes whether the work gets back on track and whether trust holds.

Today you'll step back, look honestly at your first month of managing, and choose one improvement to focus on for the month ahead.

Each lesson gives you a worked example, a practical tool and an action to try at work.

You can return to any lesson when a real situation makes it relevant. Use the worksheet to prepare, then pay attention to the actual conversation and the work that follows.

Coaching client experience

“Theo never handed me answers. He asked the right questions and helped me get to them myself.”

I’ll be honest, I went into coaching with Theo a bit skeptical. I wasn’t sure what I’d get out of it that I couldn’t work out on my own.

What changed my mind was realising how powerful the practice itself is. Having someone who actually listens, and who knows which framework to bring in at the right moment, made me think more clearly than I ever managed alone. Theo never handed me answers. He asked the right questions and helped me get to them myself.

Over time it built up both my ability and my confidence. I put part of what I achieved over that period, at work and personally, down to those sessions. One of those things was finally releasing my first book, The Atom Experience Model, which I’m not sure I’d have pushed through without that support.

If you’re on the fence about coaching, I was too. I’d recommend Theo without hesitation.
